The Lighthouse: Scottish Government booklet
The Lighthouse, is Scotland’s centre for Design and
Architecture based in the heart of Glasgow city centre. It promotes design and
architecture through a programme of exhibitions and events.
Changing Classrooms was a project undertaken by the Lighthouse to look at alternative education provision to inspire thinking about child education practice and ‘spaces’. The project was funded by the Scottish Government. According to its opening paragraph the aim of this booklet is:
. . . to illustrate the important relationship between space and learning and to help teachers develop their thinking about the spaces they teach in. We hope the examples presented here will inspire teachers to take small (or larger) actions to change and improve spaces in their school, which in turn will help to improve the learning that takes place within the classroom, and beyond.
