1993: The Scotsman and The Dumfries Courier
Changes for Unique School
Both newspapers published short articles on John Aitkenhead and his decision to continue with Kilquhanity. He had no intention to retire at age 82 years. The ‘changes’ were for Kilquhanity to cease as a boarding school and continue only with day pupils.
The articles refer to John’s reasoning regarding recruitment of ‘house parents’.

My reflection is that, although this may be true, in part, a further consideration was that Gavin – John’s son – was considering a managerial involvement as co-Head with Richard Jones, but Gavin has stated he would not consider this if the school continued with residential pupils.
