1969: Bob Cuddihy: Beyond Kilquhanity
The Politics of Education
As mentioned elsewhere Bob had thoughts on becoming a writer
with an interest in politics.
Unfortunately, Bob was not one to date his correspondence to
John so I have ordered letters in an order I think correct in relation to
content.
Whilst living with Donald Mackenzie – I think Bob’s first
lodgings after Kilquhanity – Bob wrote to John about both Sean and the war in
Vietnam.
Another letter notes that Bob attended Napier College in Edinburgh though I am unclear as to which courses he studied.
Bob reported back on the Commonwealth Summer School at Saint Andrews in a later letter.
Bob became increasingly interested in the politics of State Education and was keen to respond to the government sponsored Black Papers on education reform in England.
With associates, he planned to write and print a repost named The Red Paper: Education. This proposal was included with the accompanying article copied from Private Eye magazine
